Air New Zealand's Scathing New Ad

On March 28, Air New Zealand released a new 40 second ad on their Facebook and Twitter accounts.

The ad was titled "Hey Steve. We need to talk.", and mocks cricketer Steve Smith in reference to his involvement in the recent ball tampering scandal in Cape Town, South Africa. Throughout the ad are various quips such as calling Smith a "naughty boy" and offering him a "master class in (legal) swing bowling".

The video ends with an invitation "down south" extended also to David Warner and Cameron Bancroft, the other 2 players involved in the scandal.
On the 29th of March, coach Darren Lehmann announced a 12-month ban for Smith and Warner, and a 9-month ban for Bancroft, leaving the cricketers with more than enough time to take up Air New Zealand's offer.

In light of the controversy and mixed reactions to their ad, Air New Zealand's removed the ad from their Twitter and Facebook accounts just a few days after they had published it. However for some, the damage had already been done.

Since the scandal, Cricket Australia sponsors Sanitarium, Quantas, Toyota and XXX Gold have condemned the team's actions. LG have also completely dropped their sponsorship deal with David Warner, so we won't see him in any of their ads anymore.
